While its over-the-top characters are fun to imagine, Accelerando's most memorable scenes have a tendency to collapse under the burden of poor, often grammatically incorrect, and often seemingly unedited writing. The author's lacking knowledge of computer science and especially AI makes this novel much more "fantasy" than "science fiction," and when that ignorance rears its head it only takes one jarring moment before the whole plot turns limp and purposeless. All of this might be okay, and make for a mediocre - but tolerable - story, if it wasn't for the fact that nearly every chapter is a complete non sequitur.
