Moby Dick
Brilliant
Classic tale of the mad revenge hunt for a whale. The ending is a little suprising and well worth the read. Some parts do get a little long and boring (history of whale hunting and some other bits), but overall, the tall of the pequod is fascinating.

The Count of Monte Cristo
Well worth reading
The trials and tribulations, and finally the exacting revenge of Dante is a classic and well worth reading. There are plenty of edge of your seat twists in the tale and nail biting 'what happens next?' moments. Some of the historical context may put this out of reach of younger readers, but it is well worth hanging on to it. Overall, even if a few words are not understandable, the book gives a great insight into the human mind.

Dracula
Another great classic
Having watched the films, the book definitely pulls it off with an eerie aura the whole way through. The spine chilling encounters and escapades of the count make this story well worth visiting in written form.

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea
Plenty of pseudo-scientific description of sealife, but it really fits into the the whole scientists-diary style of story telling. A great book with a great ending.
