Robinson Crusoe follows his passion to see the world and instead ends up shipwrecked and alone on a strange island. This is neither a children's book--for the excessive amount of violence in it--nor an adult's book since it suffers from an annoyingly naive tone. Yet, given the time when it was written, and the mores of the time, I suppose what seems today as gratuitous violence would have been a necessity then. On the whole, I grew bored with the book. The religiosity didn't help either.

I found this book quite enjoyable although I was expecting a bit more action. I thought the religious adventures occupied a bit too much time. I was expecting a tale more similar to The Swiss Family Robinson, but I was mistaken. Overall, not a bad read though.

There was far more religion than I expected. If it were written today, I'd not have finished it. That said, I'm glad I read the book for its historical significance.
