Reads like a leadership guide, fascinating in its age. I have often stereotyped ancient man as not near our level of intelligence, but this book and its guiding principles could have been written today. It's about tactics and strategy, insight into a great man's mind.

This is the 3rd time I've read this book and each time I catch something new. I love the installments, which made this book easier to get through and allowed me more time to think about each chapter throughout the day! Great book!

Coming from an EE background alot of what is said falls into the common sense realm. I guess was expecting something a bit more earth shattering. Nice read though.

This book, like anything Chinese and more than a thousand years old, is dense and hard to read. The only way to extract any value from it (unless you're just into the poetry of the translation) is by thinking really hard about what's said.

And I'm sure there are some that think they already figured out all of Sun Tzu's wisdom already, but believe me: it's not common sense if the majority don't know it. QED.

whilst many feel that what Sun Tzu espoused was 'common sense', many people probably don't realise how much influence it had on thinkers and leaders through the centuries, to the point that his writing has become the norm. for someone to have written a piece of this magnitude from his era is just mind-blowing. at any rate, i reckon it's a fantastic read.

There are reasons some books survive to become utter classics in our age. In a world of fast-moving narratives, flashy commercials, and fast food, nothing ever lasts. The Art of War is a timeless classic for a reason. Wonderful to read in short bursts.

One of the oldest written capitulations of war and military stratagem and utilized across centuries; not only an interesting and fast read but truly enlightening on Eastern-Asian history.

Yes, it can be tedious at times, and yes-it can be disconnected with our modern world, but The Art of War definitely provides insights into the psychology of warfare, and of humanity in general. In some ways, it is the first textbook on the psychological concept of `groupthink`. It is interesting and well-worth the read. Again, good for DailyLit as well, since the points presented are short and can be included in single installments.

The Art of War has two central concepts: know yourself, know your enemy. This is for leaders who strike when opportunity present itself, who manage their resources wisely, and who keep their passions in check. Clear thinking from a timeless source.
