The Woman in White
Wilkie Collins
255 Installments

A mysterious woman in white unsurprisingly lies at the heart of this nail-biting tale of a young art teacher trying to save his beloved from her unscrupulous, aristocratic husband. Considered one of the first mystery novels, this book uses many of the tropes of later detective dramas but pairs them with the psychological depth of great literature.

I stumbled across another Wilkie Collins book here, The Moonstone, months ago. I liked that one so much that when I finished it, I decided to immediately read The Woman In White. I liked this one even more!

It's a long book, over 600 pages in the print copy, but it never bogs down. It held my interest from first page to last. The characters and story were intriguing, and at the end, all the loose ends were neatly resolved. It was a very satisfying read.

I have many books I’ve enjoyed over the years, but a much smaller number that are my absolute favorites, and The Woman in White has now joined this list.

I stumbled across this book in the free mysteries section and chose it because it had an interesting title. I am so glad I did! This book is unforgettable. The characters are irresistible and the plot won't let you go. I will be honest, I kind of became addicted to dailylit with this book. I think I got through all the installments in a week or less. Very good book!

I enjoyed this book tremendously. Wilky Collins is definitely an eye-opener to me. His books are not written as if they were written 150 years ago but as if they were written recently. Some elements of the story are "old fashioned" of course, but the book is a page-turner.

Suspenseful to the end. Originally written to be serialized makes this perfect to read through DailyLit.

This was a very interesting read. It started out without a lot happening, but sticking with it, the characters become quite interesting and the plot takes some unexpected twists.

Great plot twists and connections, but sometimes story was lost in long, wordy ramblings. There was a portion that I was incredibly bored, but I am so glad that I stuck with it.

I subscribed to this book because others had such good things to say about it but was not necessarily expecting to like it because it's not my usual 'thing'. I was pleasantly surprised and found it to be one of the few books recently that I truly didn't want to put down! I was sad, yesterday, when it ended...

Good plot, with excellent twists and just enough evil to be an enjoyable read. Not to formal in its writing, easier that other writings of its time. Thouroughly enjoyed!
