Good enough to make me want to read the next book in the series. Had some slow parts, but entertaining otherwise.

This is not just a classic tale of good versus evil, but has deliberately blurred lines which are crossed by all the characters on multiple occasions, asking the discerning reader to consider the context and implications of the characters’ actions before judging their behaviour. It is also a romp the likes of which it would be hard to beat – the swordplay is always quick and the author never stints on the danger as the heroes are thrust headlong into action.

If you’ve never read this, whether or not you’ve seen a film version, pick it up, turn the pages, and become completely absorbed in this most passionate, adventurous tale – I promise you will not regret it!

My favorite book! It caught me up in the action and intrigue and made me laugh along the way. I loved it. Plan on reading all the books in the series, but I just bet none could top the original.

This was a book that has been on my "To-Read" list for years. I am so happy I didn't leave it any longer - I really enjoyed it. It has humor, adventure, romance, and action. The last 50 or so parts I read in 2 days as I was hooked. I look forward to reading more Dumas books.

Really didn't enjoy this... don't like conniving women; didn't connect with any of the characters. Glad it's done.

"Charlotte Backson, Comtesse de la Fere, Milady de Winter," said he, "your crimes have wearied men on earth and God in heaven. If you know a prayer, say it--for you are condemned, and you shall die."
Athos
Wonderful characters. Fascinating story. I haven't read this for fifty years. I'm so glad I decided to read it again. I still love it.

A truly fantastic, timeless classic! If you also enjoy Alexandre Dumas‘ “The Count of Monte Cristo”, have a look at the brilliant new sequels written by the mysterious "Holy Ghost Writer". They are written in the same style as the original, and are equally as gripping. Titled "The Sultan of Monte Cristo" (Book II) and "That Girl Started Her Own Country" (Book III). Price is $1.99 and $7.77 respectively, for the Kindle Editions. Both are riveting books from beginning to end, and worthy successors to the original. Both are available on Amazon, Goodreads and Barnes and Noble. But don't take my word for it - check out the many glowing 5 star reviews on the books, if you still need convincing! :) You can either look the books up, or copy and paste the following links into your browser: http://www.amazon.com/The-Sultan-Monte-Cristo-ebook/dp/B008HV55YA/ref. I know-you`re thinking that there are dozens of movies, but there truly isn`t-I haven`t seen a single one that actually tells the story contained in the book, which is quite good and a lot of fun!
