Question of the Week - Question of the Week #33: Go International

Alistair MacLeod, a Canadian writer. (Hope that counts as international!) He has one novel, No Great Mischief, and a collection of short stories called Island. I've liked everything of his that I've read. He has a very perceptive and humane outlook on human nature, and there's a wonderful sense of place in his writing, which is mostly set in his native Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

Book Requests - LM Montgomery

I recently finished reading Anne of Green Gables here as well, and would love to read more of the series. I'm happy to hear this is in the pipeline, and I'll be looking for these books. Is there a way to sign up to be notified when a book you're looking for is available?

The Woman in White - A New Favorite

I stumbled across another Wilkie Collins book here, The Moonstone, months ago. I liked that one so much that when I finished it, I decided to immediately read The Woman In White. I liked this one even more!

It's a long book, over 600 pages in the print copy, but it never bogs down. It held my interest from first page to last. The characters and story were intriguing, and at the end, all the loose ends were neatly resolved. It was a very satisfying read.

I have many books I’ve enjoyed over the years, but a much smaller number that are my absolute favorites, and The Woman in White has now joined this list.

The Moonstone - Anyone else out there?

I've been reading this about 3 weeks now, and just wanted to say how much I've been enjoying it. A happy find!
There are already lots of intricacies in both the plot and the characterization. And some very sly bits of humor, as well!

The Moonstone - Anyone else out there?

I'm just starting this today. I wasn't familiar with it, but found it by browsing. The title sounded interesting, and I looked up the book on a few other sites to see people's opinions (which were very favorable) so I thought I'd give it a try. How are you finding it yourself?
