Anything by Ann Tyler, although Anne Rice would be more exciting.

Daughter's Keeper. Although my daughter never has any legal/criminal trouble, the story of the difficult mother/daughter relationship rings quite true.

Microserfs by Douglas Coupland.
It perfectly captures what it is like to work for a huge corporation (which I did) and then a start-up (which I now do).Aug 31, 2009 3:09 pm

Julie and Julia - read it a year and a half ago before it was a movie. It spoke to my need for change turning 30.
