Ideas & Suggestions

Make suspend/resume flow more natural

I love DailyLit. Thanks for making it.

I often can't foresee when I won't have time to read something, and thus when I should click Suspend. It would be nice if DailyLit could hold the next chapter for me UNTIL I click a link, "send me my next chapter tomorrow." Then if I don't have time to read it, it sits in my Inbox until I get to it, and extra chapters do not accumulate. When I finish reading a chapter, I can click a link: "I finished this. Send me my next installment tomorrow." This is a smoother experience for me than having to open a chapter I don't plan on reading, and scrolling down in order to suspend my subscription. (and then having to manage several unread chapters, remember where i left off, etc..)

Make it an optional setting, as its not for everyone: "Send me my next chapter automatically" or "Don't send me my next chapter until I tell you I've finished the current one."

And thanks again for a great product!

  • The suggestion above is good. I also realize that when I don't have time to read, e-mails accumulate which to me is a bit of trouble.

I think it can be simplified as "send daily automatically" or "send manually", which is simply the currently "send the next fragment now" (we request for the next when we finish one fragment). Then only one new e-mail will sit in the mailbox for us to read, and we can progress with the same button when we have time to move faster.

  • Interesting suggestion. We are working on some advanced options for managing subscriptions and may eventually offer this as a possibility.

  • I would like to strengthen this feature. Simply the ability to rely on "click to add next installment now" during suspended delivery.

I thought that I would be clever and try to do an advanced subscription where you can check which days to deliver, then uncheck all days (thus having fully manual subscription). But alas, it tells me I must at least select one day.

  • Part of the idea behind DailyLit is that it provides a bit of a "nudge" to keep going, but if enough folks chime in here we may enable a "send manually" functionality.
