  • In The Alchemist, Coelho turns ink and paper into gold. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I hope that each of us find our treasure.

  • Kikazu is right, the correct name is PAULO COELHO is a Brazilian author (they speak Portuguese, you know). "Pablo" is a Spanish version for "Paul" and "Coelho" means something like rabbit or bunny.

  • Yep....Paulo Coelho's really famous for many of his books and they're based on spiritism. My mom has all of them. I've read "11 minutes" in portuguese.

  • Mr. Paulo Coelho's "The Alchemist" re-sparked my mind, and touched somewhere, tapping into a part of me, which I so needed awakened. Me reading it, was no mistake. No one would believe how it aligned to what was going on around me and how it "predicted" where I was going to venture.I question its true significance, but I know it is OF great significance. I've also read "Fifth Mountain" on Faith. Never had a favorite author or book. Never saw myself buying books for people b/c I never cared to impress my choosings on others (Would they like it? Would it be worth it?) Now I could care less the answers to these questions...because I have faith in the power of words...his words (which I feel were guided by someone/somewhere much higher. He speaks from a place--a place I feel we all aim for, but whose path we do not look forward. He is obviously blessed...and his books have thus far been a blessing to me. :)

  • It was a good book, simple...and yet, at the heart of the simple and very common tale, the story evolves into a magical story.

  • Sorry to be a grudge but if I were you I'd pick up any book of Plato and take it from there. The alchemist is classic philosophy washed out one too many times.
Then again, reading is a very private matter and the Alchemist have touched a lot of people and I do not want to diminish that. I just find it sad that not more people seem to want to experience the original work of art rather than listening/watching/reading the cover work.

  • Definetly this book changed my life. You see the life with another perspective when you finish reading, i dont mind it has some imaginative elements, this book works to make life and easier.
