Description
A troubled young woman gets a once-in-a-lifetime chance at the love she has never known in Eugene O’Neill’s 1921 play Anna Christie. Old Chris, the captain of a coal barge, receives a letter one day from his daughter Anna. Having sent her to live with relatives at a very early age, Chris has never been part of Anna’s life. Now, however, Anna is a young woman and wants to meet the father who has been absent for so long. After their initial reunion, Chris invites Anna to join him on his coal barge as he prepares to ship out. On board, Anna meets and falls in love with Mat, one of Chris’s crew. As Anna and Mat come to terms with their feelings for one another, and Anna begins to confront Chris about the pain of his abandonment, tensions rise and old wounds reopen. When Anna makes a shocking confession about the life she has led, both men are stunned. Will the glimpse of happiness that Anna has received be forever lost? Or is there hope that her life and relationships with both men can be put back together again?
