Nigel Marsh began his career in the United Kingdom as a theology graduate, moving through a stint on the railway, stand-up comedy, squash coaching, and health education. Finally, he landed a position on the bottom rung of the marketing ladder.
He scaled the ladder to his current position, chairman of Leo Burnett Australia. Previously, he was CEO of Leo Burnett Australia, a position he held for three years. During his time as CEO, Leo Burnett was responsible for a number of the highest profile and most effective communication campaigns in the country, for companies as diverse as Canon, McDonald's, Virgin, and Subaru. Marsh has also worked with Pepsi, British Airways, and Philip Morris over the years.
His stellar career has not been without setbacks—or perceived setbacks—however; Fat, Forty, and Fired: One Man's Frank, Funny, and Inspiring Account of Losing His Job and Finding His Life is Marsh's frank, funny, and inspiring account of losing his job and finding his life. Fat, Forty, and Fired is a best seller in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Marsh lives with his wife and four young children in Bronte, Australia.
