Bronwyn Jameson

Author's Bio (see also Author's Web Site)

It took a long time for Bronwyn to discover what she wanted to be when she grew up. She dreamed of being a vet, but decided her squeamish stomach wouldn't handle the gory stuff. She considered journalism, but was too shy to go shopping for a cadetship (a newspaper internship).

Instead she chose a practical degree for a farmer's daughter who loved the land and all things country—agriculture. After she married she honed her skills with the perfect farmer's wife's course—farm financial management. In between times she worked as a rural journalist, which at least gave her some chance to play with words, although not nearly as creatively as she would have liked!

All the while she spent as much leisure time as possible with her head buried in a book, more often than not a romance. Three children and a succession of dry, dull, part-time jobs later she read a magazine article promoting Romance Writers of Australia, and wondered if she could write one of the stories she loved to read.

It had been 25 years since her last fiction writing effort—a short story which her sister submitted as her own college assignment!—but she decided to give it a go. Armed with two how-to books, a vague story line, and a truckload of naive enthusiasm, she blithely typed chapter one and there was no turning back.

She discovered the joy of creating characters, investing them with real-life dilemmas and insecurities and traumas, which she could then set about making right. What a magical way to spend one's days!

That first incomplete story was labeled a learning experience, but on her second attempt she made it all the way to the desired happy ending. When that manuscript won RWAustralia's premier writing contest for unpublished writers, The Emma Darcy Award, Bronwyn knew she was on the right track. Her next story sold to Silhouette Desire—the first to that line by an Australian author—and she had found the perfect job.

Bronwyn shares an idyllic piece of the Australian farming heartland with her husband of 20 years, their three school-age sons, a few thousand sheep, a dozen horses, assorted wildlife, and one sheepdog. When her head isn't bent over the keyboard or buried in a book, you will find her at the stables or somewhere out on the farm, cheering her sons on at one of their many sporting pursuits, or spending time with their extended family.
